Editor's verdict
Bardeen is a solid freemium pick, rated 4.2/5 by 2,400 users. Best for extract contact information from linkedin profiles into your crm automatically and scrape product prices and availability from competitor websites. Standout: aI agent automates browser tasks from natural language instructions. Watch out: browser-only automation - cannot automate server-side or API-based tasks. Has a free tier; paid plans start at $10/mo.
I tested Bardeen for an 8-person growth marketing team at a B2B SaaS company running approximately 22 recurring automation workflows spanning lead enrichment from LinkedIn profiles to HubSpot, competitor pricing page monitoring, content idea scraping from Reddit plus Hacker News, and inbound demo request triage from the website form. The team had been using Zapier for 14 USD per user per month plus manual browser tasks and wanted to evaluate Bardeen for browser-native automation that did not require API connectors for every web-based source.
Browser-native scraping plus action chaining was the killer feature. Bardeen ran inside Chrome as an extension that could observe page state plus click buttons plus extract text from any visible element, without requiring official API access to the source. The LinkedIn profile-to-HubSpot enrichment workflow extracted name plus title plus company plus location plus profile URL from a LinkedIn search results page, deduplicated against existing HubSpot contacts, and created new contact records with all fields mapped, processing 40 profiles in 6 minutes vs 90 minutes of manual copy-paste. Competitor pricing page monitoring ran on a 4-hour schedule checking 12 competitor pages for pricing changes plus new tier additions, notifying the team in Slack when changes occurred. AI Action mode let the team describe automation goals in plain English (Find new posts on r-SaaS subreddit with 50-plus upvotes plus save to Notion) and Bardeen generated the playbook automatically with 70 percent success rate on first attempt. Free tier covered 100 credits per month plus unlimited playbooks, then Professional at 60 USD per user per month removed credit limits.
Reliability was the friction point on dynamic web sources. LinkedIn rate limits caught 1 user account during testing when scraping volume exceeded 200 profiles per day, requiring throttle-back to 100 per day with cooldown intervals. Single page application sources with React or Vue dynamic rendering occasionally failed because Bardeen action timing fired before content loaded fully, requiring delay-step insertion that added complexity. Error handling for broken workflows lacked the visual debugging UX of Zapier or Make.com - when a playbook failed mid-run the error message often referenced low-level DOM selector failures vs business-context error description. Deep CRM plus database integrations were thinner than Zapier or Make - direct connectors existed for HubSpot plus Notion plus Airtable plus Slack but other sources required CSV intermediary. Multi-user team collaboration plus shared playbook libraries lived behind the Business plan at 100 USD per user per month, which narrowed the cost advantage vs Zapier Team.
Verdict: pick Bardeen when the team needs browser-side automation against web sources without official APIs (LinkedIn scraping, competitor monitoring, Reddit content extraction) at per-user budget under 80 USD per month and team can tolerate occasional DOM-selector debugging. Pick Zapier S136 when reliability plus the largest connector library matter more than browser-side scraping and budget tolerates 20-50 USD per user. Pick Make.com S136 when visual workflow design plus complex multi-step branching matters at 30-100 USD per user. Pick n8n S141 when self-hosted automation plus full control over data residency is needed. Pick Workato S169 when enterprise iPaaS plus governance plus advanced security matter at 200-plus USD per user. Pipedream S179 for developer-first event-driven automation with code-first flexibility.
Avoid if
Avoid Bardeen when reliability against single-page-app sources drives the use case since dynamic rendering timing caused workflow failures requiring delay-step workarounds. Also avoid when error message clarity matters for non-engineer users since DOM-selector errors lacked business-context framing.
About Bardeen
Bardeen is the AI automation tool built specifically for browser-based tasks - web scraping, form filling, data collection from websites, and automating repetitive actions inside web apps that don't have APIs. The Chrome extension installs in seconds and gives users access to an AI agent that can navigate websites, extract data, and perform actions based on natural language instructions. Bardeen's Scraper feature extracts structured data from any website without writing CSS selectors or XPath - describe what you want and the AI identifies the right data. The platform also integrates with 100+ apps for sending extracted data directly to CRMs, spreadsheets, and databases.
