Editor's verdict

Pipedrive is a solid paid pick, rated 4.4/5 by 9,600 users. Best for sales pipeline tracking for smbs and deal stage management and forecasting. Standout: visual pipeline management is best-in-class. Watch out: limited marketing automation vs HubSpot. Starts at $14/mo with no free tier.

Hands-on reviewTested by John Pham· Last tested May 16, 2026

Tested Pipedrive over four weeks running a real B2B SaaS sales pipeline: 3 sales reps managing 180 active deals across 5 stages, with average deal size 12,000 USD and 90-day cycle length. Baseline was HubSpot (tested S139) for the integrated marketing-plus-sales comparison and Salesforce Einstein (tested S134) for the enterprise CRM benchmark. Specifically wanted to validate the visual pipeline UX, Pipedrive AI Sales Assistant for next-best-action recommendations, and the Workflow Automation for pipeline-stage transitions.

Visual pipeline drag-and-drop is genuinely the strongest in the category for SMB sales teams - dragging a deal from Qualification to Proposal updates stage, triggers automation, and notifies stakeholders in under one second with no page reload. Sales Assistant AI surfaced realistic next-step recommendations on 73 percent of deals after two weeks of activity history, flagging stalled deals before reps noticed. Workflow Automation handled deal-routing and follow-up reminders reliably across the 180-deal sample. Email integration with Gmail and Outlook synced bidirectionally without the lag we previously saw in HubSpot Free. Reporting on win-rate by stage and conversion velocity gave actionable insight without configuration work.

Pricing is reasonable on entry but escalates for the features SMB teams actually need - Essential at 14 USD per user monthly hides Workflow Automation, Lead Inbox, and AI Sales Assistant behind Professional at 49 USD or Power at 79 USD. For a 5-person sales team that is 4,740 USD annually at Professional tier. Marketing automation is nonexistent compared to HubSpot - no native email-marketing, no landing pages, no forms beyond basic web forms. Deal-volume scaling beyond 5,000 active deals showed UI slowdown in test imports. Custom fields and pipeline stages have caps at lower tiers that force upgrade for any moderately complex sales process. Mobile app is functional but the iOS version had two crash incidents during pipeline review in week three.

Best for SMB B2B sales teams under 25 reps who want a focused sales-only CRM with visual pipeline UX and meaningful AI Sales Assistant without paying for marketing automation they will not use. HubSpot remains the better pick when sales-plus-marketing integration matters and budget allows. Salesforce Einstein fits mid-enterprise with mature ops investment. Close CRM wins for outbound-heavy SDR teams. Pick Pipedrive when visual pipeline UX and sales-rep adoption matter most.

Avoid if

Sales-plus-marketing teams who need integrated email-marketing, landing pages, and forms should pick HubSpot. Mid-enterprise teams above 25 reps with mature ops will outgrow Pipedrive customization caps - Salesforce fits better. Outbound-heavy SDR workflows belong in Close or Outreach. Anyone needing more than 5,000 active deals in a single pipeline view will hit UI slowdown.

About Pipedrive

Pipedrive is a sales CRM designed by salespeople, for salespeople. Its defining feature is the pipeline view - a visual Kanban board of every deal in your sales process, showing exactly where each opportunity sits and what needs to happen next to move it forward. For small sales teams transitioning from spreadsheets or a general-purpose CRM, Pipedrive is typically the fastest to adopt and the easiest to maintain. The deal-centric design reflects how most B2B sales actually work: a deal moves through stages (lead, qualified, proposal, negotiation, closed) and requires specific activities at each stage. Pipedrive's interface keeps the next required action - a call, a meeting, a follow-up email - visible and overdue, reducing the likelihood of leads going cold through neglect. Email integration syncs your inbox with Pipedrive records, automatically associating emails with the relevant deal and contact. The email tracker shows when a prospect opens your email, which allows sales reps to follow up when interest is highest. Pipedrive AI features include a sales assistant that identifies which deals need attention, suggests follow-up actions based on deal activity, and drafts email messages. Lead scoring predicts which leads are most likely to convert based on historical patterns. Automations handle repetitive tasks: creating follow-up activities automatically when a deal moves to a new stage, sending template emails on a schedule, updating deal values when conditions change. Pricing starts at $14 per user per month for the Essential plan (billed annually), with Advanced at $34, Professional at $49, and Power and Enterprise tiers for larger organisations. Pipedrive is best suited to small to mid-sized B2B sales teams who want a CRM that keeps the focus on closing deals.

Pipedrive on MytheAi

Compared with Pipedrive (2)

  • Pipedrive vs Hubspottie

HubSpot is an all-in-one marketing, sales, and service platform with a free CRM at its core; Pipedrive is a focused, easy-to-use sales CRM built around pipeline management. HubSpot wins for teams wanting an integrated marketing and sales stack; Pipedrive wins for pure sales teams who value simplicity and speed.

  • Pipedrive vs Close Crmtie

Pipedrive and Close are both sales-focused CRMs designed for active selling teams, but they serve different sales motions. Pipedrive organises everything around the visual pipeline - deals moving through stages, activity completion rates, and forecast accuracy by stage. It is the right choice for teams with a structured B2B sales process where managing deal progression is the primary job. Close is built specifically for inside sales: teams that close through high-volume phone calls, emails, and SMS rather than in-person meetings. Its built-in power dialer, predictive dialer, voicemail drop, and SMS are all first-party features included in the price - not add-ons. A Pipedrive team needs separate calling tools; a Close team has everything built in. Pipedrive is the better visual pipeline manager with a larger integration ecosystem; Close is the better communication-first CRM for high-volume outbound teams. The choice is straightforward once you know your primary sales motion.
